Oban & Lorn
You are in: Oban & Lorn
You could say that this entire area is about the conjunction of water and mountain with all of the scenic climaxes and activities these elements create.

Our Oban and Lorn area stretches the width of mainland Argyll. It runs from the west coast yacht havens of Craobh Haven and Kilmelford in the south to Castle Stalker in the north and east to Dalmally, Glen Lochy and Tyndrum.

It offers great walking and climbing in the famous peaks and Munros of the mountains around Loch Etive and in Glen Etive.

It embraces most of Loch Awe, except for the very southernmost section below Eredine, which falls into Lochgilphead and Mid Argyll. Loch Awe itself is surrounded by some of the most spectacular sceneries in western Scotland.

It includes the inshore islands of Kerrera in Oban Bay, Lismore in Loch Linnhe and the collection of islands and almost-islands to the south of Oban around Easdale – Luing, Shuna, Seil and Easdale Island itself.

It contains some of the best diving waters in the UK and some of the most exciting sailing areas like the passage through the Dorus Mhor (the great gate) into the Firth of Lorn. This is perfectly manageable for the competent sailor but something of a white-knuckle ride all the same.

The unforgettably picturesque town of Oban is the most important port on the west coast of Scotland north of Glasgow.
