Argyll - Freshwater Angling
You are in: Argyll :: Activities :: Angling :: Freshwater Angling
Freshwater Angling The Scottish Brown Trout season runs from 15th March to 6th October.

Heavy rain is a crucial element in successful river fishing in Argyll. The rivers are mostly small spate streams and it takes a lot of rain to seduce the fish into them. So – when the rain stops its time to get out there – fast.

Hill lochs generally contain small trout that put up a good fight – but there some lochs with trout over 4lbs so be prepared to record your big moment if it comes.

Freshwater species include: brown, rainbow and sea trout; ferox trout, char; lythe, saithe, salmon; pike; perch and eels.
